Gutenberg Virtual Book Club

February 8th, the Gutenberg Club hosted author E.K. Johnston to speak to our school. The Forensic and Creative Writing classes and Writing Club were invited to this event.  She wrote a current Caudill selection "Story of Owen".  Other titles by the author are "Exit, Pursued by a Bear" which had a forensic storyline and two books with very unusual twists on traditional stories. She has a canon Star Wars book about Ahsoka. Thank you, E.K. Johnston, for visiting our school.

The Gutenberg Club is our online book club that is structured differently than most book clubs. Every member gets to read books that they want to read. The online portion is where members answer questions about their opinions about books they have read and offer recommendations about what to read. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month during lunches to share what we are reading and to join group discussions. Contact Mrs. Magar to receive an email invitation to the Club.

Library News

The Thunder Library is open from 7:00 to 4:00. The Library closes at 3:15 on Fridays.  Mrs. Magar and Mrs. Cooper are here to help you with your questions and with your checkout needs. We have over 14,000 books and materials for student use. There are 30 desktop computers and very comfy chairs available throughout the day.  Students can be in the Library before and after school without a pass.  A Thunderpass is needed to come to the Library during the school day. You can get a pass from the Library Staff before school or from one of your teachers.  The Library is the location for WNHS's Peer Tutoring Program and for test make-ups. Textbooks are checked out and returned through the Library.

If you are a D200 student, you are entitled to a free WPL library card. You can get this library card by going to the Woodstock Public Library at 414 W Judd Street. You need to take your student ID and a current schedule to the circulation desk by the front door. You will get a card with a number on it that is your password to all of the WPL databases.
